LWC Basketball continues MSC play on the road at Pikeville

The Lindsey Wilson men and women's basketball teams continue Mid-South Conference play tonight against Pikeville (KY) in Pikeville at the UPIKE Gymnasium, Hibbard St, Pikeville, KY.

Tip-off for the No. 14-ranked women (19-4, 8-2 MSC) is set for 5pmCT and will be followed by the RV men (16-8, 5-5 MSC) at 7pmCT.



The Lindsey Wilson women travel to the UPIKE Gym after defeating Life (Ga.) on Saturday in Biggers Sports Center. The Blue Raiders recorded 11 more assists and eight more rebounds than the Running Eagles. Reagan Turner led LWC offensively and on the boards with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists.

LWC currently ranks sixth in the NAIA Division I in offensive rebounds per game (16.5) and ninth in total scoring offense (1760). The Blue Raiders have four players averaging double-figure points, led by Turner who ranks fourth nationally in total scoring with 424 points while also ranking fifth in three-point field goal percentage with 43.8. DeAsia Outlaw leads the team with 161 total rebounds and 45 total blocks which rank seventh in the nation.

The Pikeville women (14-10, 4-6 MSC) enter the match-up after falling to Georgetown (Ky.) 83-72 at home on Saturday. Kayla Mullins scored a game-high 21 points in the loss. On the season, Pikeville has three players averaging double-digit points, led by Sierra Feltner averaging 11.2. Brianna Burbridge leads the team on the boards, averaging 7.6 rebounds a game. The Bears rank in the top-10 of the NAIA DI in total blocks (101), blocks per game (4.2) and total rebound offense (961).

In this season's earlier meeting on Jan. 11, the Blue Raiders defeated the Bears 79-52. Turner scored a game-high 22 points and Outlaw notched a double-double with 18 points and 14 boards. The Bears were led by Burbridge with 16 points and seven rebounds.

The Lindsey Wilson men return to action after picking up a couple of wins against Cumberland (Tenn.) and Life last week. Reece Brooks led the Blue Raiders and earned MSC Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors after averaging 23 points and six assists in the pair of wins. Kameron Mack and Malik Hart averaged 10.5 and 10 points, respectively, in last week's contests.

The Blue Raiders rank second nationally in total three-pointers made (267), sixth in three-pointers made per game (11.1) and eighth in free throw percentage (74.6). Brooks leads the team and conference averaging 19.8 points while boasting an 88.0 percent free throw percentage which ranks third nationally. Matthew Eldridge leads the Blue Raiders with an average of 6.8 rebounds.

Pikeville (16-7, 3-7 MSC) hosts the Blue Raiders after falling to No.1-ranked Georgetown 76-63 on Saturday. The Bears rank third in the NAIA DI for total rebound defense (28.95) and fourth in turnover margin (5.0) and field goal percentage (51.6). Jordan Perry averages 17.1 points to lead Pikeville offensively. Luke Layhew contributes 12.1 points per game while leading the Bears with an average of 7.2 rebounds.

In this season's earlier meeting, the Blue Raiders defeated the then No. 4-ranked Bears 80-69 on Jan. 11 in Biggers Sports Center. LWC shot 59.1 percent from beyond the arc and 59.2 percent from the field in the win. Brooks tied his career-high, scoring 28 points. Three other Blue Raiders also scored in the double figures. The Bears also had four players score double-digit points, led by Korbin Spencer's 16 points.
