Update on Rep. John Bam Carney from his family

John Chowning sends this update on Rep. Bam Carney from his brother Mark Tuesday evening February 4, 2020:

“Although Bam continues to be in ICU (day 44) and he continues to deal with infection and high white blood counts, we still rejoice in the improvements we see each day. Improvements such as he has been off of the breathing machine since Thursday.

“They even moved the ventilator out of the room over the weekend!! Still is getting oxygen and still has the trach in, but they were able to reduce the size of the trach on Monday. This smaller trach will allow for a valve to be put on it that should help him talk.

”We’re all getting a little better at reading lips but none of us are experts yet so to be able to hear some words from him will be good for us but even better for Bam, as I think him being able to communicate should lessen the anxiety, which I believe has been improving a little anyway so thank you all for your prayers in regards to that.

”Physical therapy worked him over really good yesterday and they were excited over how some of the muscles were beginning to bounce back. They did have to pull fluid from around the lung again today which was the second time in five days that he had to have that done but they say that is common for what he is going through.

”We know there will continue to be some hiccups such as infection and battles of anxiety but we are so thankful the positives continue to outweigh the negatives.

”We give God the Glory and each of you the thanks for your continued prayers, support and encouragement!!
#GodsGloryoverBam #BounceBackBam”
