Woodwind Day, featuring The Dozier Winds, at CU Saturday

By Ariel C. Emberton

Campbellsville, KY - Campbellsville University will be hosting a Woodwind Day on Saturday, January 25, 2020.

"The Woodwind Day is a special event for our CU woodwind and horn students, as well as local middle school and high school students," Dr. Lisa McArthur, professor of music, theory and flute at Campbellsville University, said.

Featured at the event as guest performers will be a Woodwind Quintet, The Dozier Winds, from the 282nd Army Band, Fort Jackson, S.C. The group will be teaching and performing through the day, including concerts at 1pmET and 4:30pmET in The Gheens Recital Hall, in Gosser Fine Arts Center, 210 University Drive, Campbellsville, KY. "These concerts are free and open to the public and our campus community," McArthur said.

The students will have the opportunity to perform in a full woodwind ensemble, work with and for professionals who specialize on their instrument, perform in and listen to concerts, attend a panel discussion about "College and Careers in Music" and shop with vendors, according to McArthur.

"We are excited to welcome several guests to our campus, as well as some guests from the U.S. Army," McArthur said.

For more information on the day's events contact the School of Music at 270-789-5237.
