CPD: Arrest made for DUI and drug possession By Officer Adam Cravens, PIO Columbia Police Department On Tuesday afternoon, January 7, 2020, Columbia Police Department officers initiated a traffic stop on HWY 55 North just after 4:30pmCT. After making contact with the driver, officers could detect the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle as well as the odor of alcoholic beverage from the the operator. After performing field sobriety and searching the car, officers placed Donnie Murphy, 34, of Columbia into custody. He has been charged with DUI 1st offense, possession of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine 1st offense; a class D felony. Officer Evan Burton was the arresting Officer.
