ACSO: Brief sleet storm caused multiple collisions

By Sheriff Josh Brockman
Adair County Sheriff's Office

On Saturday, January 4, 2020, at 1:04pmCT, Deputy Chandler Staten and Sheriff Josh Brockman were dispatched to an injury collision (vehicle vs rock wall), that was reported nine miles west of Columbia on the Louis B. Nunn Cumberland Parkway.

Thu J Musick, 26, of Nashville, was operating a 2008 Honda eastbound on the parkway when she came into a brief sleet storm that covered the roadway in ice.

Musick lost control of her vehicle, striking a rock wall off the right hand shoulder of the roadway. Musick was not injured in the collision, but her passenger, Nadia Omar, 22, also of Nashville, sustained injuries and was treated on the scene by Adair County EMS and then transported to TJ Health of Columbia.

While Sheriff's personnel were on the scene, an additional three collisions called in, for a total of 4 accidents in that 1/4 mile stretch. The other collisions were all non-injury.

All collisions were investigated by the Sheriffs Office. Agencies responding included the Adair County Sheriff's Office, Adair County EMS, and the Columbia Adair County Fire Department.
