CPD: Wanton endangerment and DUI Arest By Officer Adam Cravens, PIO Columbia Police Department On Tuesday, December 24, 2019, just after 4pmCT, officers located a red Chevrolet pickup truck on Tutt Street after receiving complaints about the vehicle in the area. When Officers approached the vehicle after initiating a traffic stop, an open alcoholic beverage container was in plain view. There was also a 19-month-old male child in the truck with the driver. After conducting on-site field sobriety tests, officers placed James Taulbee, 49, from Winchester, in custody. Taulbee was transported to TJ Samson Columbia where he refused a blood draw. From there he was transported to and lodged in the Adair County Jail. He has been charged with DUI 2nd offense, open alcoholic beverage container, and wanton endangerment 2nd degree. The child's mother was contacted and the child was placed into her care. Officer Evan Burton was the arresting Officer, he was assisted by Officer Jordan Dean.
