Letter: Mugshots with arrest articles

By BJ HAGY

I think Law Enforcement folks are doing a great job and service for the citizens of Adair County. I find it most interesting that we publish when they have a "Drug Bust," and it gets published.

Up here in New Hampshire they take it a step further and publish the perpetrator's mugshot along with the arrest article.

I'd like to suggest that Law Enforcement and you good folks on Columbia Magazine take it up a notch and publish these local law breakers pictures like we do up here. I think it might help law abiding citizens to be on the lookout and report more drug-related activities they see.

It's one thing to have one's name mentioned in the news. It takes it to a whole new level if there's a picture identifying these lawbreakers. They might actually think twice before engaging in these illegal activities.

Maybe run this idea up the flagpole and see if there's an interest in this from the law enforcement folks or even from floating the idea in an article about doing so. I propose seeing if the citizens of the town of Columbia and the county are interested in such a concept. --BJ HAGY
