LWC Football battles Georgetown at home Saturday

The No. 7-ranked Lindsey Wilson football team returns to Blue Raider Stadium, 928 Russell Road, Columbia, KY, for senior day this Saturday to face Georgetown (KU) in a Mid-South Conference matchup with kickoff set for 1:30pmCT.

The Blue Raiders (8-0, 5-0 MSC) roll into Saturdays game undefeated after defeating Pikeville (Ky.) 45-10 on the road on October 26th. The win over the Bears marks the third time out of the last four seasons Lindsey Wilson has notched an 8-0 record under head coach Chris Oliver.



On offense this season for the Blue Raiders, junior quarterback Cameron Dukes comes into the game leading the Mid-South Conference in total offensive yards per game (296.4) and pass efficiency (179.8). Dukes has thrown the ball 231 times for 2,228 yards, 27 touchdowns, and five interceptions. Senior wide receiver Jay Gaudlock sits as Duke's top target this season, catching a team-high 40 passes for 551 yards and six touchdowns. Junior running back Jaylen Boyd comes in as the top rusher for Lindsey Wilson, rushing 83 times for 653 yards and eight touchdowns. Boyd has also caught 15 passes for 283 yards and three touchdowns for the Blue Raiders.

The Lindsey Wilson defense comes into the matchup holding their opponents to just 14.5 points per game, which is second best in the Mid-South Conference. Sophomore linebacker Luke Bowman leads the Blue Raiders in solo tackles (32), assisted tackles (32), and total tackles (64). Senior linebacker Stevie Miller leads Lindsey Wilson with 10 and a half tackles for loss, while senior defensive back James Todd leads the way with four interceptions for the Blue Raiders.

Georgetown (4-4, 3-2 MSC) returns to the field for their matchup with Lindsey Wilson after falling short against No. 8-ranked Cumberlands (Ky.) 14-7 in a Mid-South Conference battle at home on November 2nd.

Sophomore quarterback Zach Dampier has thrown for 1,462 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, and three interceptions this year for the Tigers. In his last outing against the Patriots, Dampier went 9-18 passing throwing for 130 yards and one touchdown. Senior wide receiver JJ Ogbogu leads Georgetown with 33 receptions for 713 yards and seven touchdowns this season. On the ground, junior running back Isaiah Cobb leads the way rushing 74 times accumulating 220 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

The Tiger defense comes into the game with Lindsey Wilson allowing 26.1 points per game and 412.5 total yards per game. Senior defensive back Starr Thompson anchors the Georgetown defense, leading the team with 47 solo, 49 assisted, and 96 total tackles for an average of 12 tackles per game this season. Thompson's 96 total tackles this season ranks him second in the Mid-South Conference, while his 12 tackles per game ranks him second in the NAIA. Senior defensive lineman Landon Corolla has tallied a team-high 11 and a half sacks this season, while also leading the NAIA with a 1.6 sacks per game average.
