By Brady Budke

The No. 7-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team begins their run at the Mid-South Conference Tournament championship on Thursday, where they will face Life (GA) in the quarterfinals at 11amCT in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

The Blue Raiders women's soccer team (12-3-1, 8-0-0 MSC) earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament after defeating Campbellsville (KY) 1-0 on the road October 30th. The victory clinched the programs 18th all-time Mid-South Conference regular season title.

The Running Eagles women's soccer team (2-14-0, 2-6-0 MSC) faces the Blue Raiders after earning the No. 8 seed by defeating Pikeville (KY) 9-0 on the road November 1st.

The regular season matchup between Lindsey Wilson and Life took place on October 22nd at Lupo Family Field in Marietta, Georgia. Despite being winless at the time, Life gained the upper hand in the match early on scoring in the third minute to take an early 1-0 lead. However, Lindsey Wilson added four unanswered goals to eventually roll their way to the 4-2 victory.

For the Blue Raiders this season, sophomore forward Sina Cavelti serves as the anchor for the team's offense, leading the team with 12 goals, 29 points, 66 total shots, and 31 shots on goal. Cavelti currently averages 1.81 points per match, which ranks first in the Mid-South Conference. Senior midfielder Emilie Liljered has notched nine goals and two assists this season and sits behind Cavelti with 20 points. Sophomore midfielder Thea Birgerud holds the team lead with seven assists and has recorded two or more points in four of the last six matches. On defense, Junior goalkeeper Eveljn Frigotto leads the team with 63 saves on the season, which sits fifth-best in the Mid-South Conference. Senior goalkeeper Jovana Ivanovic has 18 saves and has accomplished two shutout victories in her two starts this season.

Despite being outscored by their opponents 56-23 this season, the Running Eagles come into Bowling Green looking to complete the upset over the Blue Raiders to keep their season alive. The freshman duo of forward Sarah Slingluff and midfielder Alexandra Collighan carry a heavy offensive workload for Life, as they currently sit as the only two Running Eagles with double-digit points and shots on goal this season. Collighan leads the way in goals (7), assists (3), points (17), and total shots (52). Slingluff has the team lead in shots on goal (28) and trails close behind Collighan in goals (6), points (12), and total shots (41). Junior goalkeeper Julia Bernhardt and freshman goalkeeper Julia Vila Punset have combined for 104 saves this season.

Live video and live stats will be available for the match. The match is scheduled to begin at 11amCT at Warren East High School in Bowling Green, Ky. The winner of the match will play the winner of the 1:30pmCT matchup between No. 4-seeded Campbellsville (Ky.) and No. 5-seeded Cumberland (Tenn.).
