KSP: Post 15 Monthly Activity Report for October 2019

Columbia, KY - During the month of October 2019, there were 21 traffic accidents investigated by the State Police working in the Post 15 area in the 11 counties of Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell, Taylor and Washington.

During the month of October 2019, there were
  • 825 citations written
  • 201 courtesy notices written
  • 17 complaints answered
  • 125 motorists assisted
  • 46 criminal cases opened
  • 173 criminal arrests made


There were five fatal collision during the month of October in the Post 15 area.
  • Donald Sparks, age 66 of Bullitt Co KY was killed on 10/02/19 in Taylor Co KY.
  • Paula Rainwater, age 45 of Taylor Co KY was killed on 10/01/19 in Taylor Co KY.
  • Matthew Blake Burress, age 29 of Taylor Co KY was killed on 10/16/19 in Taylor Co KY.
  • Darrell R. Stephens, age 52 of Metcalfe Co KY was killed on 10/12/19 in Metcalfe Co KY.
  • Melissa M. Nelson, age 51 of Monroe Co KY was killed on 10/25/19 in Monroe Co KY.
This brings our yearly fatality count to 22 compared with 26 through this same period in 2018. Statewide fatality count stands at 621 compared with 613 through this same period in 2018.
