Jerry Watson is new City of Columbia Gas Superintendent

By Tiffany Collins

Columbia's new gas superintendent, Jerry Watson of Adair County, was introduced at Monday night's City Council meeting.

Mayor Hoots said he has recently rejoined the department where he previously served as gas superintendent and had most recently been working with an engineering firm on projects throughout Kentucky and surrounding states.

"I'm pleased to rejoin the City of Columbia Gas Department," said Watson. "I am looking forward to expansion and projects in the future."

The local department includes: Phillip Stotts, Shane Gaskins, Shawn White, and Steven Baker. Zak Smith has recently joined the city as a maintenance worker.

"We are looking forward to several projects in the near future. We are pleased that Jerry Watson will be joining our team," said Mayor Pamela Hoots. "One of our objectives is to extend gas and services that our organization can provide."

The City of Columbia recently decided to proceed with bids on an extension to a project to Green Hills Subdivision. They are also looking at other areas for expansion.

According to Watson, "We currently have several projects that are in line for completion over the next few months."
