LWC Women's Basketball downs Berea 72-53

The No. 15-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team defeated Berea (Ky.) 72-53 on Tuesday night at Biggers Sports Center. The Blue Raiders remain a perfect 4-0 on the season with the win.

Reagan Turner scored a game-high 21 points as she added seven rebounds and went 7-of-9 from the charity stripe. DeAsia Outlaw was the only other Blue Raider in double figures as she finished with 13 points and a game-high eight rebounds. Outlaw added three steals and four blocks as Haeli Howard tallied four steals.



Lindsey Wilson was efficient from the floor in the first quarter as they knocked down 57 percent of their shots including two of their three from beyond the arc. LWC racked up 12 of their 22 points in the paint as they battled the Berea big's around the rim to lead 22-16 after one quarter.

Berea would get one point back during the second stanza as LWC went into the break with a slight seven-point advantage at 39-32. The Mountaineers outscored the Blue Raiders 17-16 during the 10-minute span.

Lindsey Wilson shot just 42.4 percent from the field in the half as Berea managed a 45.8 mark. Second-chance points were the difference-maker across the first 20 minutes as LWC managed a 10-4 advantage with a 12-6 lead in offensive rebounds.

Out of the break, Lindsey Wilson put together their best quarter of the game. On the defensive end, LWC limited Berea to a 33.3 percent shooting mark from the field while pushing the pace on the offensive end as they poured in eight baskets and made 6-of-11 attempts from the charity stripe. The effort led the Blue Raiders to outscore the Mountaineers 22-11 in the quarter, increasing their advantage to nearly 20 points at 61-43.

The final ten minutes of action was a back-and-forth affair as the squads exchanged baskets to a 72-53 final.

LWC finished the night shooting 41.9 percent from the field while limiting the Mountaineers to a 36.4 shooting percentage. The LWC defense forced Berea into 26 turnovers on the night as the Blue Raiders held a 40-33 advantage on the glass.

The Blue Raiders return to action on Friday when they take on Faulkner (Ala.) at 7pmCT as part of the MSC/SSAC Challenge.
