Family Math Night at Adair Co. Primary Center By Laura Marcum ACPC recently had their Family Math Night. Students were able to practice their math skills while having fun with their family. Lindsey Wilson College students led the activities. Alex Brockman and Matthew Hunter led the "Monster Measure" activity. They decorated a foot as a monster and measured how long/big it was. Sarah Robinson and Harold Bargo---led the "Estimation" activity. The students guessed how many bubbles they could blow through a hula hoop. They also got a chance to estimate how many m&ms were in a jar and how many candy corns were in another jar. The closest without going over was the winner with one winner per jar. Katrina Hadley and Kassidy Huddleston had the "Comparisons" activity. Students rolled number cubes and then put objects in a box that matched than number. Then they compared the two boxes and placed the appropriate sign for greater than, less than or equal. While Megan Bell and Erika Squires were leaders of the "Addition and Subtraction" activity. Students would bowl with pins and a bowling ball. However many pins they knocked down, they then put that many marbles in a cup. They bowled again and added that number of marbles in a cup. Then they had to count how many marbles were in their cup. Special thanks to Mrs. Judy Bradshaw and her Lindsey Wilson College Education students who hosted our activities. Sponsored by LWC Education students, Title I, the 21st CCLC Camp Casey , and the ACPC Family Resource Center. This story was posted on 2019-11-04 18:15:00
