Traffic changes: Plan for wait times this week BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Expected traffic impacts in District 3 for this week through Nov. 8 are listed below. In addition to the work going on between Columbia and Campbellsville on the Heartland Parkway, and on Burkesville Street in Columbia, the following are places to allow more travel time for: Metcalfe County / Knob Lick Knob Lick Road KY 1243 - A project to replace the bridge deck on KY 1243 over Knob Lick Springs is set to begin with a short-term closure. The road is expected to be closed beginning Nov. 5 and reopened on Nov. 13, but work is weather dependent. A signed detour utilizing KY 70, U.S. 68 and KY 543 will be in place. Motorists should allow for extra travel time due to the detour. The project will rehabilitate or replace seven (7) bridges in Casey, Edmonson, McCreary, Metcalfe and Wayne Counties as part of the Bridging Kentucky Program. Scott & Murphy Inc. was awarded the project on August 8, 2019 in the amount of $4,412,713. Barren County / at Cumberland Parkway overpass Beckton Road KY 685 - A project to rehabilitate the Cumberland Parkway overpass will close a section of KY 685 Beckton Road in Barren County beginning October 28th. The road is expected to reopen in two weeks, but work is weather dependent. A signed detour utilizing KY 1297, KY 255, and US 68-80 will be in place. Motorists should allow for extra travel time due to the detour. The project will rehabilitate six (6) bridge decks along the Cumberland Parkway in Barren and Metcalfe Counties. Monroe County KY 678 Stringtown Flippin Road from Low water ford at Peter Creek to KY 63- Crews will be present next week working on a resurfacing project in the area. Work will continue with drainage improvements and pavement failure repairs. Traffic will be down to alternating one lane with flaggers in work areas during working hours. . KY 163 and KY 100 E Fourth Street and N Magnolia Street from School Drive to Main Street - Crews will be working on storm sewer within shoulder and lanes of KY 163. Lane closures will be in place. Expect road closures of KY 100 approaching KY 163 intersection during the week. Motorist should seek alternate routes when approaching KY 163 from KY 1446 or KY 100. . Construction of the Tompkinsville Bypass will continue. Folks in the community will notice signs placed in advance of the construction zones. Since it is a new route, most of the construction will take place away from traffic; however, as construction progresses, some traffic impacts will occur particularly at intersections. Notice will be given as these impacts happen throughout the course of the project. Cloyd Road has been closed to through traffic indefinitely. Traffic on Capp Harlan Road and Cave Springs Road have been routed to a new traffic alignment at the intersection with the new bypass. Traffic near the KY 100 intersection has been diverted to a new temporary alignment. Motorists should use caution in this area and observe the reduced speed limit. Traffic on KY 1049 will be routed to the new traffic alignment. All work is subject to change. For more information checkout the new GoKY.ky.gov.
