Excited about all the downtown updates

By Cayce Davenport

Downtown Days was a huge success! Thank you to the intensely passionate Renaissance Committee and their commitment to pulling off another fun filled year.

While set up on Campbellsville Street, it was wonderful seeing such a positive reaction from our community to the new addition of Downtown. After all day watching others get their picture in front of the mural, some of which I was happy to take for complete strangers or friends, I realized that I had yet to do so. I finally got to pose with my youngest son.

Thank you to Mayor Hoots and City Council for trusting me with such a project! I'm excited about all the Downtown updates and am humbled to have been a part of them. I hope this mural is the first of others to come. We have a strong presence of extremely talented artists from all ends of the spectrum in Adair County. There's loads more where that come from, you only need ask. Thank you!

Cayce Davenport finishes mural for Downtown Days

2019-10-13 - Columbia - Photo from the artist.
Artist and art teacher Cayce Davenport completed the City of Columbia mural just in time for the weekend Downtown Days Festival. She said, “It was great to watch all the people (of all ages) get excited about it and get pictures!” Among those to get photos made in front of it before dark were the artist and her son Emmett. The mural is located in the little park space just off the square beside the Columbia Police Department. It is most visible when driving or walking into town from Campbellsville Street.
