Bro. Lee Roy Kerns, 77 The funeral service for Bro. Lee Roy Kerns, 77, will be Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at 11:00 a.m., at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, Columbia. Bro. Kerns, 2882 Liberty Road, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2003, at 5:16 a.m., at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was the son of the late Hobert and Pearl Coffey Kerns of Adair County, KY. He is survived by his wife, Renea Coomer Kerns, Columbia; four daughters, Diann Elliott and her spouse, James, Shepherdsville; Patsy Young and her spouse Paul, Baytown, Texas; June Moore and her spouse Roy, Hustonville; and Rebecca Ashbaugh and her spouse Terry, Shepherdsville; one son, Roy David Kerns and his spouse Nancy, Shepherdsville; two brothers, Joe Kerns, Columbia, and Dallas Kerns, Bardstown; four sisters, Allene Burton and Dorothy Kerns, both of Columbia, Alta Burnett, Taylorsville; and Mabel Barnes, Bardstown; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends survives. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Glenn, James, and Charlie Kerns. Bro. Kerns was retired from General Electric in Louisville. He was a member of Purdy Separate Baptist Church, a Separate Baptist Minister, the Pastor at the Christian Church Home at Jabez, and was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army. Rev. James Hale, Bro. Donnie Smith, and Bro. Junior Homes will officiate. Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matthew Kerns, Andrew Kile, Daniel Moore, Thomas Etherton, Richard Lewis, Jr., and Todd Akin. Stotts-Phelps-Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
