Thomas Murray, 98, Green County, KY (1921-2019)

Thomas Murray, departed this life on September 13, 2019 in Greensburg. He was 98 years, three months and five days of age.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11amCT Monday, September 16, 2019 at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg with burial to follow in the Greensburg Cemetery. Bro. Blake Jessie, Bro. Todd Young, Bro. Steve James and Bro. Tony Jewell will be officiating.

Visitation is requested from 9-11am until time of the service.



Pallbearers: Steve Jones, Cory Jones, Gene Judd, Shawn Murray, Larry Handy, Tony Jewell, Terry Dile and Jimmy Little.

He was the son of the late Alfonzo Murray and Sarah Dorcas Wright Murray was born on June 8, 1921 in Green County.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer, General Manager and licensed tobacco buyer for the Jake Dulworth Tobacco Warehouse. He was also the former Manager for the Burley #1 Warehouse. An auctioneer, Mr. Whitnaincy, had stated, "Mr. Murray was the best starter on tobacco that he had ever followed."

He united in marriage to Marie Kemp on December 23, 1939, who preceded him in death on February, 28, 2018.

Survivors include one daughter and a son-in-law: Carolyn and Thomas D. Jones of Louisville; two grandchildren and their spouses: Steve and Marcy Jones of Nicholasville and Karen and Mack Robinson of Louisville; two great grandchildren and a spouse: Cory Jones and Shannon and Cory Gibson, all of Nicholasville; one great-great grandchild: Noah Gibson of Nicholasville; six nieces: Betty Jefferies, Wanda and Dennis Henry, Phyllis and Daryl Morning, Sara Murray, Ann Strader and Margie Bloyd; five nephews: David and Maggie Murray, Sam and Beverly Kemp, Kenny Murray, Leslie and Lokmon Sidebottom and Albert and Breda Sutton; special friends: Jimmy Little and Ray Acree, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Murray was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers: Nellie Kemp, Hattie Sutton, June Sidebottom, Daniel Murray, Marvin Murray, Paul Murray, Carl Murray and Charles Murray.

The Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
