Vonnie, I don't remember the year but I do remember Mom telling me about the fire. Later one of the Jackman teachers was hired to teach at CHS and did so without a ripple of protest. Because of that lady Columbia schools were integrated long before the rest of the country. I don't think I ever new her name but you can probably find it in the records. Her story should be told in any history of the schools. --Martha
