Robert Bell writes: Come and see my town, Creelsboro By Robert Bell, Creelsboro native On September 14, 2019, Creelsboro, KY will once again be booming with lots of people and memories from days gone by. This past November several that I grew up with got together and formed a "memories of Creelsboro" committee. I was born in the center of Creelsboro, in a little red house next to the Creelsboro Bank and across the street from my grandparent's store. We lived there until my parents decided to build a house on the Bell family farm. When I was growing up, there was a bank, post office, Irvin's Store, Polston's Grocery, two churches and a school in Creelsboro. The school was located where the Christian church stands today. I attended the Creelsboro Nazarene church and occasionally the Creelsboro Christian church. Some of my fondest memories of growing up in Creelsboro was Friday night at my grandparents store, Polston's grocery. All of the neighborhood children would gather in town and play tag and hide and go seek. Also baseball games were played on Sunday afternoons in the past your field of the bird flat farm. The back boys: Roger, Dean, and Barry, the Gilbert boys: Donnie and Mike, Robert and Ronnie flat, Michael Campbell and myself along with the older men, would play. Our greatest fan was the late bird flat who kept everyone entertained. This is just a few of my cherished memories of my town, Creelsboro. Come and see my town on Saturday, September 14th.
