Dougherty, Miller earn MSC Player of the Week honors By Chris Wells Lindsey Wilson College football players Jared Dougherty and Stevie Miller have earned Mid-South Conference Bluegrass Division Player of the Week accolades, conference officials announced on Monday. Dougherty picks up special teams player of the week honors while Miller earns defensive player of the week honors. Dougherty scored 10 points in Lindsey Wilson's 40-24 win over Campbellsville (Ky.) to open the 2019 season last Thursday. He connected on a pair of field goals -- 29 and 47 yards -- while making four of five extra points. During the game, Dougherty became the program's all-time points leader. He finished the night with 241 career points. Dougherty also averaged 42 yards per punt in his three attempts, including a 58-yard punt. Miller led the Lindsey Wilson defense with nine tackles, including 2-1/2 tackles for a loss to help the Blue Raiders retain the Battle of Highway 55 traveling trophy for a fourth straight year. Miller added a fumble recovery as the Blue Raiders forced three turnovers in the season-opening win. He helped the Lindsey Wilson defense hold the Tigers scoreless in the fourth quarter -- Lindsey Wilson outscored Campbellsville 13-0 in the final frame -- after Campbellsville had closed within three points. Dougherty earns his seventh MSC weekly honor of his career while Miller secures his first. Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1:30pmCT on Saturday, Sept. 7, as the Blue Raiders host Point (Ga.) at Blue Raider Stadium. This story was posted on 2019-09-03 05:46:32
