Dorothy Pelston, 79 Services were held Friday, April 4, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia for Dorothy V. Pelston of the Sparksville Community, Columbia, KY. Mrs. Pelston died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at Summit Manor Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late Dan and Lula Alfred Turner Coomer and the widow of Willie Pelston, who preceded her in death December 22, 1975. She was also preceded in death by a son, George Alfred Pelston, who died on August 10, 1999. She is survived by two daughters, Shirline VanArsdale and her husband Edwin of Columbia; and LaVern Wray and her husband Ernest F., Memphis, IN. Also surviving are two brothers, Herbert Coomer, Columbia, and Floyd Coomer, Louisville; three sisters, Vanola Estes, Edith Gowen, and Anna Petty, all of Louisville, KY; 11 grandchildren, 14 great granchildren, one great great grandchild, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one brother, Vanus Coomer. Mrs. Pelston was a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church and a homemaker. Bro. Lonnie Karnes officiated. Interment was in the Fudge Cemetery at Breeding. Pallbearers were Todd VanArsdale, Mark Atkins, Darrell Wayne Pelston, James Wray, Gene Pelston, Terry VanArsdale, and Kevin Bault. Honorary pallbearers were Edwin VanArsdale, Ernest F. Wray, and Lucian Edwards. Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
