Letter: Dogwood Dates

Jim writes:
This column must have appeared in November 1977. In Ed's November 8 "Around Adair" column (in the Adair County News), he mentioned that pledges had been made for 232 dogwoods.

The following week (November 15), the "It Happened Last Week in News" columnist reported the number pledged had nearly tripled and then stood at 646 trees.

For the record, Billy Beer was introduced in July 1977 and likely hit Lebanon and points south within a matter of days. (Inumberable jokes about the beverage soon made the scene, few of which were fitten for young eyes or ears.) --Jim
