Letter: Flag with blue stripes Kathy Jones writes: I was at Walmart this morning and noticed a flag that had blue stripes instead of red and the field of stars was different waving from a large truck. I was going to ask someone about this flag but was unable to. Can someone explain this flag? Thanks. --KathyKathy, thanks for writing. It's possible that what you saw was the "Thin Blue Line" flag, which is black and white with a blue stripe in the center, and often used to show support for Law Enforcement. You can read more about it at wikipedia.org/wiki/Thin_blue_line. A variation of the black and white flag with a red stripe in the center has been used by some to represent Fire Departments. There are also numerous other variations of the US flag that are used to symbolize affilation with various other political and social groups. This story was posted on 2019-07-18 09:58:37
