What to know about the Kentucky Pregnant Workers Act By Sarah Ladd, Louisville Courier Journal Kentuckians will be affected by several new laws that went into effect at the end of June, most notably a new law lessening restrictions on concealed carry and a new law protecting pregnant workers at eligible workplaces. What does the Kentucky Pregnant Workers Act mean? The new law, which became effective June 27, means that employers must offer "reasonable accommodation" for pregnant persons in the workplace. Eligible employers must accommodate childbirth and related medical conditions, such as the need to breastfeed or pump, without discrimination.
