Roberta Jones Lile, 82, Green Co, KY (1936-2019)

Roberta was a precious mother, grandmother and loving wife.

Mrs. Roberta Jones Lile of Green County, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2019. She was 82 years old.

The funeral services for Mrs. Roberta Jones Lile will be conducted at 2pmCT on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main St., Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Liletown Cemetery. Bro. Joseph Wilcoxson, and Bro. Todd Young will be officiating.

Visitation is requested from 4:30pmCT until 8pmCT on Saturday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT on Sunday until time of the funeral service.


Mrs. Roberta Jones Lile of Green County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Robert Estes Jones and Maybell Thompson Jones, was born on Wednesday, September 9, 1936 in Green County and departed this life on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the Norton Women's Pavilion Hospital in Louisville. She was 82 years, 9 months, and 17 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Liletown United Methodist Church and attended the Trammell Creek Baptist Church. Roberta was a precious mother, grandmother and loving wife. She was dedicated to Jesus, was a past V.B.S. Director, Girl Scout Troop Leader. She enjoyed crafting, jewelry, painting and Raggedy Ann dolls. She was a seamstress, canned many garden vegetables over the years, and loved cooking and feeding friends and family. She was formerly employed with Fruit of the Loom, Inc., and Green Hill Manor Nursing Home, but her most important work was as a homemaker and farmer alongside her family.

She united in marriage to J.V. Lile on May 26, 1956 and preceded her in death on January 18, 2018.

Survivors include a daughter: Vanda Jean Lile of Green County; two granddaughters: Shawna Shuffett and her husband, John of Greensburg, and Megan Covarrubias and her husband, Seth of Bowling Green; two sisters: Aleda "Sis" Thompson of Campbellsville, and Brenda Hancock of Greensburg; a sister-in-law: Bea Lile of Louisville; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Lile was also preceded in death by a brother: Austin Ray Jones.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideon Bible Fund, Liletown Cemetery Fund, or Trammell Creek Baptist Church, which can be made at the funeral home.
