Rebekah Cowherd Serving as intern at KDA Taylor County graduate working in Consumer & Environmental Protection this summer with the Kentucky Department of Agriculature. By Sean Southard Frankfort, KY - Rebekah Cowherd, who will be a senior this fall at Western Kentucky University, says she has always had a passion for agriculture. Studying general agriculture with a minor in environmental studies and sustainability, Cowherd is serving an internship this summer at the Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA) in Frankfort. She is working with the Office for Consumer and Environmental Protection, specializing in pesticides. She is the daughter of David and Sherry Cowherd and a 2017 graduate of Taylor County High School in Campbellsville. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, hiking, and sending snail mail. "There are so many different aspects of agriculture, particularly pesticides, to be explored," Cowherd said. "I can't wait to learn more through this internship." "A KDA internship provides opportunities for students to gain real-world work experience and possibly even enter a career in public service," Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles said. "I would like to thank Rebekah for joining us at the Department this summer and hope she learns valuable skills during her time with us." Cowherd's lifelong interest in agriculture inspired her to apply for an internship with the KDA. This story was posted on 2019-06-28 13:43:33
