Kentucky basketball legend 'King' Kelly Coleman dies at age 80 By Jason Frakes, Louisville Courier Journal Kelly Coleman -- better-known as "King" Kelly Coleman after becoming the all-time leading scorer in Kentucky high school basketball history -- died Sunday. He was 80. Gary West, author of "King Kelly Coleman: Kentucky's Greatest Basketball Legend," confirmed Coleman's death. West said Coleman had been battling cancer and was living in his hometown of Wayland, Kentucky. "In my mind, he's the biggest legend who ever played in this state," West said.
