William (Billy) Bottom, 87, Russell Co., KY native (1932-2019)

Billy was a Veteran of US Navy and a member of Highlands Baptist Church in Lexington.

William "Billy" Bottom of Lexington, Ky (formerly of Russell County) died Monday, May 13, 2019 at the Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Lexington. He was 87 years old.

The funeral service for William "Billy" Bottom will be at 1pmCT on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N. Main St., Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Michael Erp and Bro. Jim Combest officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery with full military honors by the Russell County Honor Guard.

Visitation is requested from 10amCT until 1pmCT on Saturday.


He was born January 26, 1932 in Russell County to the late Bert & Tressie Anderson Bottom.

Billy was a Veteran of US Navy and a member of Highlands Baptist Church in Lexington.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Veston "Bocky" Bottom and Raymond Bottom.

Survivors include:
  • His wife: Sylvia Bottom, Lexington
  • Three children: William (Susan) Myles Bottom, Versailles, Ky, Myra Lynne Bottom, St.Louis, Missouri, Stephen Kirk Bottom, Lexington
  • Seven grandchildren
  • Two sisters: Janis Holt, Russell Springs, and Jeanette Wolford, Russell Springs
