Pension bill still short of votes

With time beginning to run short, top legislative leaders said Wednesday that Gov. Matt Bevin is apparently still shy of the votes needed to pass his pension proposal. The proposal is aimed at giving quasi-governmental agencies and regional universities relief from the big spike in pension costs they face July 1.

"As of right now, I don't believe that there is a comfort level that the necessary votes are there..." House Speaker David Osborne, R-Prospect, told reporters at an impromptu news conference with Senate President Robert Stivers. "There's ongoing discussions and efforts to try to get those votes."
