Blue Raiders drop doubleheader against Campbellsville

Lindsey Wilson baseball drops the final two games of their Mid-South Conference series against Campbellsville University on Monday afternoon.

The Blue Raiders (7-32, 2-13 MSC) fell 4-0 in game one and dropped game two 7-0 against the Tigers (27-15, 11-4 MSC) at Egnew Park.

Campbellsville outhit Lindsey Wilson 18-5 on the day. The Tigers tallied for seven hits in their first outing and connected for 11 hits during the second matchup.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action tomorrow as they host Brescia (KY) for their final home game of the season in a solo nine-inning game slated for 5pmCT at Egnew Park, Lindsey Wilson Sports Complex, 928 Russell Road, Columbia, KY.


Game 1 (9 Innings): Lindsey Wilson 0, Campbellsville 4

Campbellsville opened the first inning with a one-run lead before scoring another three in the top half of the second to round out the score to 4-0 heading into the third.

After a scoreless seven innings, Campbellsville managed to hold their four-run lead to close out the game in the ninth.

Steven Calderon and Jed Arend both collected a hit each for the Blue Raiders.

Ethan Escue started on the bump for Lindsey Wilson, pitching for 4.1 innings. Escue recorded two strikeouts and three walks during his time on the mound. Jose Diana made a short appearance worth just over an inning before Francisco Arias would close out the game in the final three innings.

Tyler Deason snagged the win for the Tigers, starting on the mound and throwing for five innings. Gage O'Brien made an appearance for three innings before Malcom Grady saw an inning's worth of action to finish out the game.

Game 2 (7 Innings): Lindsey Wilson 0, Campbellsville 4

Game two began in a similar fashion to the first matchup of the day, as Campbellsville opened with a 1-0 lead after the first inning.

A scoreless second inning passed before the Tigers would tack on two runs to take their lead to three.

Lindsey Wilson managed to hold off Campbellsville for two innings before the Tigers were able to add to their lead with a three-run home run.

During the final inning, Campbellsville connected for one final run to push their tally to seven to close out the game.

Dillan Saunders, Chris Koutsoubos, and Arend managed a hit apiece.

Chandler Harnage threw for five innings to open up the game and eventually took the loss. CJ Lent saw 1.1 innings worth of action with Austin Streble coming in for brief appearance as well.

Eric Little was the winning pitcher for the Tigers, pitching for six innings and throwing six strikeouts. Jesse Davis closed out the game with a short inning's worth of work and managed three strikeouts as well.
