LWC Baseball slated to host No. 3 Tennessee Wesleyan

Lindsey Wilson baseball is slated to host No. 3-ranked Tennessee Wesleyan on Tuesday afternoon at Egnew Park, Lindsey Wilson Sports Complex, 928 Russell Road, Columbia, KY.

Tuesday's action is scheduled for 3pmCT for the single nine-inning game.

The Blue Raiders (7-28) are returning to the diamond after dropping their weekend series against the No. 4-ranked Georgia Gwinnett. Lindsey Wilson fell in game one 19-2 on Friday followed by a 6-5 defeat and 15-5 loss on Saturday.


Seth Price leads the Blue Raiders with a .330 batting average. Price has connected for 36 hits, 23 RBI's, five doubles and two home runs this season. Austin Rayno leads the team with 40 hits and has a .310 batting average.

Senior right-fielder Steven Calderon leads the RBI's category (29) along with runs scored (27), doubles (9) and home runs (7).

As a team, Lindsey Wilson has a .268 batting average, connecting for 291 hits this season while scoring 174 runs. The Blue Raiders have totaled 153 RBI's as well.

On the mound, the Blue Raiders hold a 9.33 ERA in 267.1 innings played. Ethan Escue continues to lead Lindsey Wilson with the most time on the bump, throwing for 40.0 innings. Escue has recorded a 7.43 ERA in his nine appearances for the Blue Raiders.

Jose Diana leads the squad with 34 strikeouts this season and has managed a 7.71 ERA during his 32.2 innings of work.

No. 3 Tennessee Wesleyan (37-7) visits Columbia, Ky. after sweeping Reinhardt (Ga.) on the road on Thursday and Friday.

The Bulldogs have outscored their opponents this season 372-161 and have tallied a .326 batting average. TWU has also recorded 12 batters with a batting average of .300 or better. The Bulldogs rank fifth in the NAIA in total runs batted in (342) as well.

Dan Fry has connected for 53 hits to lead the team with Braden Mosley recording 55 RBI's and 44 runs to help spark the Bulldog offensive efforts.

As for the pitching corps, Cole Bellair has thrown 60.1 innings this season, leading the Bulldogs with a 1.94 ERA. Bellair has tallied 64 strikeouts and has been able to pick up eight wins.

Both teams met back on March 19th where the Bulldogs defeated the Blue Raiders 7-3 in Athens, Tennessee.
