2000 Celebration Of The Arts Festival Coming In September

This article first appeared in issue 30, and was written by Linda Waggener.

Heart of Adair and the Columbia-Adair County Arts Council present the 2000 Celebration of the Arts festival September 22, 23, 24 on the square in Columbia. The second annual event will offer artist displays, art demonstrations, a sidewalk chalk art competition, creative activities for children and adults, story tellers, music and a special art film. Festivities will kick off on Friday night at

7 pm in the Columbian Theatre with a musical performance by the group Standing Room Only. Saturday events are being coordinated to offer something for all ages. Area artisans are invited to participate in this Celebration of the Arts.

With this project, it is hoped that people of all ages will become more educated about the growing circle of artists in this region, along with all of the benefits to be derived from the arts.

Many volunteers, like the two pictured above, have come together on the Arts Council to help make this event a very special family experience. Anyone interested in participating in the festival, or who has questions, may contact event coordinators, Henrietta Scott at 270-378-6421, or Jane Aaron at 384-6400.
