Adair Co. Grand Jury returns indictments Tue 12 Mar 2019

Indictments brought against 10 individuals from Columbia, Hazard, Munfordville, Knifley, and Austin, KY, onf charges including criminal abuse, possession, assault, theft, custodial interference, and reckless driving.

NOTE: Indictments are considered formal charges. An indictment is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by indictment is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.

The Adair County, KY Circuit Court grand jury, Columbia, KY, returned indictments against the following individuals on Tuesday, 12 March 2019:


  • Lois Elaine Mattingly, Parrott Ave., Columbia, KY Indictement No. 19-CR-00044. Charged with 1 count. Count 1 - Criminal abuse, 1st degree. Bail set at $5,000 cash/SP, no contact with minor children, victim/cw. Arraignment 4/9/2019 at 9amCT.

  • Jordan Wade Grant, Hwy 55 S., Columbia, KY Indictment No. 19-CR-00047. Charged with 2 counts. Count 1 - Possession of or viewing of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor. Count 2 - Distribution of obscene matter to minors, 1st offense. Bail set at $10,000 cash/sp. Arraignment 4/9/2019 at 9amCT.

  • Patrick L. Stotts, Maxie Ln., Columbia, KY Indictment No. 19-CR-00048. Charged with 3 counts. Count 1 - Assault, 2nd degree. Count 2 - Wanton endangerment, 1st degree. Count 3 - Menacing. Bail set at $100,000 cash. Arraignment 4/9/2019 at 9amCT.

  • William Junior Huff, Glomar Stormking Rd., Hazard, KY Indictment No. 19-CR-00049. Charged with 2 counts. Count 1 - Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Count 2 - Persistent felony offender, 1st degree. Bail set at $2,500 cash/sp. Arraignment 4/9/2019 at 9amCT.

  • Joy D. Ballard, Lee Carter Rd., Austin, KY Indictment No. 19-CR-00050. Charged with 2 counts. Count 1 - Theft by unlawful taking/disposition, $500 or more but under $10,000. Count 2 - Theft of retail merchandise for resale. Bail set at $2,500 cash.

  • Charles Jason Ballard, Lee Carter Rd., Austin, KY Indictment No. 19-CR-00051. Charged with 4 counts. Count 1 - Theft by unlawful taking/disposition, $500 or more but under $10,000. Count 2 - Persistent felony offender, 1st degree. Count 3 - Theft of retail merchandise for resale. Count 4 - Persistent felony offender, 1st degree. Bail set at $2,500 cash. Arraignment 4/9/2019 at 9amCT.

  • Richard Anthony Ballard, Lee Carter Rd., Austin, KY Indictment No. 19-CR-00052. Charged with 2 counts. Count 1 - Theft by unlawful taking/disposition, $500 or more but under $10,000. Count 2 - Theft of retail merchandise for resale. Bail set at $2,500 cash. Arraignment 4/9/2019 at 9amCT.

  • Ernest Wilson, III, Old Main St., Munfordville, KY Indictment No. 19-CR-00053. Charged with 2 counts. Count 1 - Theft by unlawful taking/disposition, $500 or more but under $10,000. Count 2 - Theft of retail merchandise for resale. Bail set at $2,500 cash. Arraignment 4/9/2019 at 9amCT.

  • James David Burnette, Mt. Tussell Rd., Knifley, KY Indictment No. 19-CR-00054. Charged with 7 counts. Count 1 - Custodial interference. Count 2 - Custodial interference. Count 3 - Unlawful transaction with a minor, 1st degree. Count 4 - Possession of a controlled substance, 1st degree, 1st offense, methamphetamine. Count 5 - Possession of drug paraphernalia. Count 6 - Disregarding a stop sign. Count 7 - Failure to or improper signal. Bail set at $100,000 cash.

  • Wyatt T. Long, Corbins Bend Rd., Columbia, KY Indictment No. 19-CR-00055. Charged with 7 counts. Count 1 - Possession of a controlled substance, 1st degree, 1st offense, methamphetamine. Count 2 - Possession of a controlled substance, 1st degree, 1st offense. Count 3 - Possession of drug paraphernalia. Count 4 - Operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol/drugs/etc., .08, 1st offense. Count 5 - Reckless driving. Count 6 - Rear license not illuminated. Count 7 - Failure to wear seat belts. Bail set at $1,500 cash w/MCR. Arraignment 4/9/2019 at 9amCT.
