Blue Raiders face #1 Freed-Hardeman in NAIA 2nd Round By Clayton Barefield The fifth-seeded Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team faces the number one overall seed Freed-Hardeman (TN) on Friday in the second round of the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Championship. Tip-off is set for 10amCT from the Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark, 308 6th Ave N, Billings, MT. The Blue Raiders (23-10) opened the tournament with a 60-49 win over fourth-seeded Bethel (TN) on Wednesday morning. Lindsey Wilson averages 71 points per game, outscoring opponents by a margin of 9.3 points. The Blue Raiders are shooting for 39.3 percent from the field and 30.8 percent from beyond the arc. LWC has outrebounded opponents by a margin of 7.7 rebounds, averaging 42.5 per game. Mid-South Conference Player of the Year, Reagan Turner continues to boost the Lindsey Wilson offense averaging 20.7 points per game for a total of 684 points this season. Turner's performance has garnered a third and fifth-place ranking nationally in both total points and points per game, respectively. Heidi Huffman has produced solid numbers for the Blue Raiders from beyond the arc, ranking her third in total 3-pt field goals (99) and sixth in 3-pt per game (3). Defensively, Gerda Paulauskaite has produced 79 blocks this season which ranks her seventh in the nation for total blocks and for blocks per game (2.47). No. 1 Freed Hardeman (32-2) returns to the court after defeating Dillard (La.) 63-53 in the opening round on Wednesday. FHU averages 78.2 points per game and has outscored opponents by a margin of 28.3 points. The Lions have shot for nearly 45 percent from the field and for 34 percent from range. Freed-Hardeman has also outrebounded their adversaries by a margin of 9.7 rebounds, for an average of 40.2 rebounds per contest. The Lions are led by Haylee Croom who averages 18.1 points per game while shooting 57.3 percent from the field. Croom also leads the teams in rebounds averaging 11.6 per game as well as averages 2.3 steals per game. The Lions rank No. 1 in the nation in both scoring defense per game (49.9) and in scoring margin (28.3). Friday's matchup is the eighth meeting between the two programs. LWC holds a 4-3 record over the Lions. The last meeting between the two was back in 2010 where the Blue Raiders bested the Lions 67-63 at the Daytona Beach Shootout.
