Three from Somerset appointed to Judicial Nominating Commission

Frankfort, KY - Gov. Matt Bevin has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:

Betty Barnes Cook, Christopher K. Short, and Robin Page Citak, all of Somerset, and Paul David Playforth of Standford, have been appointed as members of the Judicial Nominating Commission for the 28th Judicial Circuit and District of Kentucky.


  • Betty Barnes Cook, of Somerset, is self-employed as a family home provider. She will serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2022; and

  • Christopher K. Short, of Somerset, is a computer engineer. He will serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2022; and

  • Robin Page Citak, of Somerset, is a real estate agent. She will serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2020; and

  • Paul David Playforth, of Stanford, is an auctioneer and realtor. He will serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2020.
The Judicial Nominating Commission for the 28th Judicial Circuit and District of Kentucky includes the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (serving as chair), two members from the Kentucky Bar Association, and four gubernatorial appointees who are not members of the Kentucky Bar Association (equally representing the two major political parties). Members cannot hold any other public office or any office in a political party or organization.
