Gentle yoga training to be offered in the region

Yoga training classes were offered by Marshall University at the Adair County Health Department last week, preparing leaders who can offer the healthy stretches and breathing exercises locally.

Janet Cowherd, the LCDHD diabetes educator, was the organizer of the training and will be able to answer questions and provide contact information for certified trainers in Adair, Green, Russell, Cumberland, Casey and Clinton Counties.

Betty Knifley, already a trainer in Adair County, offers yoga classes each Monday and Wednesday at 4pmCT at the Extension Office on Fairground Street. Organizations around the region represented at this training and who will have more information include: Russell County Extension Office and Health Department, Centerpoint Church, Dunville Christian Church, Lindsey Wilson College, Green County Library and ColumbiaMagazine.com

Green County Library offers gentle yoga classes

Gentle yoga certifications were awarded to several groups who went through the training course last week at the Adair County Health Department offered by Marshall University. At left is Amy Coleman from Aetna Insurance. At right, representing the Green County Public Library where classes are already being offered, are Rebecca Pruitt and Missy Curry.

Training for gentle yoga class leadership in the region

Janet Cowherd, fourth from left, the LCDHD diabetes educator, was the organizer of the gentle yoga leaders training provided by Marshall University recently at the Adair County Health Department. This group worked together on presentations for the afternoon session. Included with her are Jamie Lee from Russell County Health Department, Christy Martin from Russell County, Connie Duvall from Cumberland County and Nita Joyce York from Clinton County.
