LWC Baseball Splits Doubleheader against Talladega on Monday

The Lindsey Wilson baseball team split its doubleheader against Talladega (Ala.) on Monday afternoon at Egnew Park.

The Blue Raiders (4-12) took game one of the series 7-6 while dropping game two 2-1 in two seven inning games.

Lindsey Wilson outhit Talladega 13-12 for the day, including eight RBI's and a solo home run in the first game.

The Blue Raiders are back on the field Tuesday at 1pmCT when they take on Marian (IN) at Egnew Park, Lindsey Wilson Sports Complex, 928 Russell Road, Columbia, KY.


Game One: Lindsey Wilson 7 - Talladega 6

The Blue Raiders opened game one with a hot start, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first after holding the Tornadoes scoreless in the top of the inning.

Talladega answered with three runs in the second inning just before the Blue Raiders would tag on another to runs to make the score 6-3 after two.

Talladega returned two runs in the third to cut Lindsey Wilson's lead back to just one run while holding the Blue Raiders scoreless to retire the inning. Both teams would then go scoreless in the fourth inning.

Lindsey Wilson closed out the top of the fifth inning by keeping Talladega off the scoreboard while also scoring their final run of the game off an Ian Gehres solo homerun.

Talladega scored one run in the top of the sixth but was unable to provide a spark to overtake Lindsey Wilson's lead.

Kelvin Guzman picked up the win for the Blue Raiders, pitching 5.0 innings while Chandler Harnage grabbed the save closing out the final two innings.

Game Two: Lindsey Wilson 1 - Talladega 2

For game two, both teams were able to push runs in during the first inning and saw five scoreless innings after the first before Talladega was able to take advantage on a wild pitch to score the game winning run.

The Tornadoes outhit the Blue Raiders 6-to-4 in the game while also recording two errors to sneak away from Egnew Park with a win.

Ethan Escue pitched for 6.2 innings for Lindsey Wilson with Harnage seeing some time as well to close out the game.
