Lindsey Wilson tops Learfield Cup Standings By Chris Wells Lindsey Wilson athletics sits atop the first NAIA Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup winter rankings, National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) officials announced on Thursday. The Blue Raiders tallied 345 points during the winter championships, which includes men and women's swimming, men and women's indoor track & field and men's wrestling. In addition to its points from the fall championships, Lindsey Wilson has 513 total points. Oklahoma City is second with 411.25 points followed by Southern Oregon's 404.5 points. Lindsey Wilson finished the fall standings in 16th place with 168 points. The Blue Raiders scored points in all five winter championships to this point. Lindsey Wilson and Morningside (Iowa) are the only two schools to post points in each of the five winter championships counted in the first winter rankings. Lindsey Wilson men's wrestling scored 90 points for its runner-up finish last weekend in Des Moines, Iowa. Men's indoor track & field secured 77.5 points for its fourth-place finish. Men's swimming (7th place) tallied 69 points, women's swimming (8th) picked up 66 points, and women's indoor track & field (28th) scored 42.5 points during the winter championships. Five other Mid-South Conference schools appear in the standings. Cumberlands (Ky.) is eighth with 339.5 points, Life (Ga.) is 33rd with 229.75 points, Shawnee State (Ohio) is 38th with 191.5 points, Campbellsville (Ky.) is 39th with 113.75 points and Cumberland (Tenn.) is 74th with 104.5 points. The Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between NACDA and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in 13 sports during their championships. The NAIA must count four sports -- men and women's basketball, men's soccer and volleyball -- with the remaining nine coming from any of the remaining championship sports. The next NAIA winter standings will be released Thursday, March 21. This story was posted on 2019-03-07 20:04:30
