LWC Swimming competes at NAIA National Championships By Benjamin Riegger The Lindsey Wilson men and women's swimming team travels to Columbus, Georgia to compete at the NAIA Men and Women's Swimming National Championships at the Columbus Aquatic Center. The Blue Raiders last competed at the Mid-South Conference Championships on January 31-February 2. The men's team placed fourth, while the women's team placed fifth in conference championships. The women's team is ranked seventh in the NAIA Coaches' Top 10 Poll, while the men's side is ranked eighth. Day one of the national tournament begins at 10amCT with the 800 freestyle relay is the only event scheduled for the day. The women's team is seeded fifth, while the men are seeded eighth in the event. Competition on Thursday through Saturday begins at 8amCT for the preliminaries, followed by the finals which are contested starting at 4pmCT each day. The first event on Thursday is the 200 freestyle relay, in which both the men's and women's programs are competing in. The men's side is seeded sixth, while the women's program is seeded seventh. 500 freestyle is the second event of the day featuring four LWC swimmers from both men's and women's side. Pedro Terra is seeded sixth in this event, while Michael Peck is seeded at 24th for the men's programs. The women's side features Emily wood and Emma Phillips. In 200 individual medley, Jessica Macdonald is seeded fifth for the women and Clemens Paetzold is seeded 12th for the men. Olek Olejnik, Bryce Rice and Carlene Taylor are set to compete in the 50 freestyle. The final event for Thursday is the 400 medley relay, in which both the men and women's programs are set to compete. Both the men and women are seeded seventh in this event. Day three starts with the 200 medley relay with both the men and women teams slotted as the No.7 seed. The 400 individual medley follows with Ron Wolfart competing for the men, while Sloane Smith goes on the women's side. Terra is set to compete for LWC in the 100 butterfly. The 200 freestyle features, Terra for the men's program, while for the women, Macdonald is seeded fifth and Taylor coming in with the 25th seed. The final two events of the day are the 100 breaststroke and the 100 backstroke. In the 100 breaststroke, Olejnik, Ron Wolfart and Rice for the men, while for the women's side, Sloane Smith is the set to compete. In the 100 backstroke, Paetzold is seeded at seventh with Peck adding in on the men's side and Taylor competing for the women's program. On the final day of competition, the 200 backstroke is the first event of the day. Paetzold is seeded seventh on the men's side, while Sarah Hahn is featured for the women's program. The 100 freestyle features five LWC swimmers in Olejnik, Rice, Macdonald, Taylor and Bailey Seitz. Madonald is the highest seeded Blue Raider at fourth for the women. Wolfart and Smith both are set to compete in the 200 breaststroke for the men and women. Terra competes as the only LWC swimmer in the 1,650 freestyle being seeded ninth. The last event of the day is the 400 freestyle relay in which the men and women's programs are both set to compete. The women's relay is seeded at fourth, while the men's relay is seeded fifth. Last season, the men's program finished 11th with 131 team points, while Keiser (Fla.) captured the men's crown with 653.5 points. The women's program finished in the program's best finish at fourth place with 267 team points. SCAD- Savannah (Ga.) captured the women's title with 603.5 points.
