Blue Raiders set for Final MSC Road Doubleheader

The Lindsey Wilson men and women's basketball teams are set for their final Mid-South Conference road doubleheader of the season, as they head to Williamsburg, Kentucky to face Cumberlands (Ky.) on Thursday night.

The women open the doubleheader at 5pmCT with the men scheduled to tip-off at 7pmCT from the O. Wayne Rollins Center, 816 Walnut St. Williamsburg, KY.


The No. 19-ranked women (20-8, 8-4 MSC) head to Williamsburg after defeating Fisk (Tenn.) 85-51 on Monday night at Biggers Sports Center. Four Lindsey Wilson student-athletes tallied double-digit points during Monday's victory over the Bulldogs.

Lindsey Wilson has averaged 71.3 points per game this season, outscoring opponents by a margin of 10.7 points. LWC has also outrebounded opponents by 8.3 rebounds, averaging of 43.2 rebounds per contest.

The Blue Raiders are led by Reagan Turner who continues to lead the MSC as well as rank in the top-10 in the NAIA Division I individual rankings. Turner moved to No. 4 in total scoring (566) while also ranking No. 6 in points per game (20.2).

Both Gerda Paulauskaite and Heidi Huffman rank nationally as well. Paulauskaite ranks No. 6 in blocks per game (2.6) and No. 7 in total blocks (71). Huffman ranks inside the top-10 in two categories for her performance behind the arc. Huffman has made a total of 82 three-pointers for a No. 8 ranking along with averaging 2.9 threes per game for a No. 9 ranking.

Cumberlands (14-14, 1-11 MSC) host the Blue Raiders after a non-conference victory over Carver (Ga.) on Saturday, where the Patriots defeated the Cougars 61-28 at home.

Cumberlands average 71 points per game while shooting for 40.7 percent from the field. UC also averages 40 rebounds per game along with 12.7 assists per game.

Shayla Simpson leads the Patriots this season in three statistical categories. Simpson averages 14.3 points, two steals, and 0.7 blocks per game.

Thursday's matchup is the 71st meeting between the two programs. Lindsey Wilson holds a 37-33 record over Cumberlands. Earlier this season, the Blue Raiders defeated the Patriots 70-62 at Biggers Sports Center.

Lindsey Wilson men's basketball (15-13, 5-7 MSC) returns to action after an 86-81 victory over Fisk (Tenn.) on Monday evening at Biggers Sports Center.

As a team, the Blue Raiders are averaging 78.9 points and 38 rebounds per game. LWC is shooting 46.1 percent from the field and 36.7 percent from beyond the arc. Lindsey Wilson ranks ninth in the NAIA in total three-point field goals made with 283, averaging 10.1 three-pointers per game. The Blue Raider three-point defense is holding opponents to just 31.6 percent from behind the arc to rank No. 15 in NAIA Division I.

Kel Stotts leads the team averaging 14.5 points per game while shooting 38.2 percent from the field and 36 percent from beyond the arc. Stotts leads the team in total points this season with 392.

JR Adams has produced a solid defensive effort for the Blue Raiders this season. Adams is ranked eighth in NAIA Division I in total steals with 56, averaging two steals per game.

No.21-ranked Cumberlands (20-8, 6-6 MSC) returns to the floor after defeating Carver (Ga.) 79-51 on Saturday afternoon.

As a team, the Patriots are averaging 75.5 points per game while shooting 46.1 percent from the field and 34 percent from beyond the arc. Cumberlands out-rebounds their opponents by an 8.1 rebound margin while averaging 40.2 rebounds per game.

Malik Colven-Seldon leads the Patriots averaging 14.7 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Colvin-Seldon is shooting 57.3 percent from the field and 69 percent from the free-throw line.

Thursday's matchup marks the 74th meeting, with Cumberlands leading the overall series 54-20. The last meeting occurred in January in which the Blue Raiders lost 77-66 to the Patriots.
