Letter: Lerman's was a magical place for me

Jennifer Perkins writes:
The old Lerman's Bro. store has saddened me for many years. It was once a magical place for me. My Grandmother, Cuva Scott, worked there for over 30 years.

The large entry windows filled with mannequins wearing clothing always caught my "little girl" eyes. I remember my Grandmother buying patterns and material to make my sister and I clothes, we would sit on stools and look through the big Simplicity and other pattern books.

I loved watching Grandmother wrap Christmas presents for customers with folds of perfection, and eating lunch with her in the grandest upstairs area EVER, in the history of second and third story buildings.

Memories of Mr. Abel, Joe Taylor, and Betty Coop along side of my Grandmother are so vivid in my mind. I'm certain that this building doesn't hold memories for others like it does for me, but I hope that it can be saved, restored and loved again. --Jennifer
