CPD has reports of phone fraud and phishing scams in Adair

From Sgt. JR Murphy

The Columbia Police Department has been receiving reports of phone fraud, and phishing scams, and would like to remind everyone to protect your personal information.

Impersonators will call, or e-mail, posing as various businesses, companies, or government entities requesting your Social Security number, or banking information.
Do not give out your personal, or financial information over the telephone, through the mail, or over the internet unless you have initiated the contact, or know who you are dealing with.

If you believe you are a victim of identity theft, contact law enforcement. For more information on protecting your identity, or victims of identity theft, visit https://www.identitytheft.gov/.
