LWC Blue Raider Baseball drops game 2 against the Grizzlies By Clayton Barefield Lawrenceville, GA - The Lindsey Wilson baseball team dropped game two of their season-opening three-game series against Georgia Gwinnett on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Raiders (0-2) lost game two 10-3 at the Grizzly Baseball Complex. Lindsey Wilson was able to get their bats going in game two scoring three runs while out hitting the Grizzlies 11-9 for the contest. Austin Rayno, Zak Mizell and Seth Price were all able to cross home plate, scoring the Lindsey Wilson runs. Dillan Saunders, Tyler Maskill, and Steven Calderon led Lindsey Wilson with two hits each as Calderon connected for two doubles in the contest. Rayno and Price were able to grab one hit each as well. Calderon, Saunders, and Manny Chavarria were also able to manage one RBI each. Kelvin Guzman opened the game for the Blue Raiders pitching for 3.2 innings, giving up six hits, six runs and five walks. Jose Diana would make his first appearance for Lindsey Wilson leading the team with two strikeouts while letting up four runs and two hits. Vincent Boils finished the game for LWC pitching three innings allowing just one hit and gave up two walks. Georgia Gwinnett (3-2) continued to produce offensively on Saturday scoring 10 runs on nine hits and nine RBI's. Cam Coursey led the charge for the Grizzlies producing two runs, four hits, and four RBI's. Brandon Frazier and Brenton Burgess also matched Coursey with two runs each. Hunter Dollander was the winning pitcher after going five innings for the Grizzlies. Dollander gave up four hits and a solo run in the first inning, while also recording seven strikeouts. Alec Kliphouse, Pedro Garcia, and Tucker Plouffe made an appearance on the mound for the Grizzlies. The Blue Raiders took an early, one-run lead in the first inning with a standup double RBI coming from Calderon which brought Price home. The Grizzlies answered back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first and were able to hold Lindsey Wilson scoreless until the seventh inning. Georgia Gwinnett scattered the scoring with two runs in the first, one run in the second, three in the fourth, and finally four in the fifth. Lindsey Wilson was able to close out the game holding the Grizzlies scoreless and snagging one more run to bring the final score to 10-3.
