LWC Men's Basketball beats Shawnee State 87-63 By Chris Wells Portsmouth, OH - Five Lindsey Wilson men's basketball players posted double digits in an 87-63 win at Shawnee State (OH) on Saturday at the Waller Gymnasium. Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 8pmCT on Thursday, Feb. 14, as the Blue Raiders host Cumberland (TN) at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY. JR Adams scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Blue Raiders (13-13, 4-7 in the Mid-South Conference) to the season sweep of Bears. Lindsey Wilson won the first meeting 84-67 in Columbia in mid-January. Kel Stotts added 17 points -- thanks to making five 3-pointers -- Matthew Eldridge and Peyton Cundiff contributed 15 points and Shakaris Laney chipped in 12 in the win. Cundiff matched Stotts with five threes to help the Blue Raiders finish with 16 makes beyond the 3-point arc in the game. The Blue Raiders connected on 47.1 percent (16-of-34) from deep, outscoring the Bears 48-15 from three. Five ties and nine lead changes highlighted the first 10 minutes of the game. Tied at 22-22, Lindsey Wilson used a 12-0 run to build its first double-digit lead of the game with 6:49 left in the opening half. Stotts and Adams combined to hit a trio of 3-pointers during what ultimately proved to be the decisive spurt. Lindsey Wilson extended its lead to as many as 17 points before ultimately leading 44-33 at the break. Shawnee State scored 10 of the first 15 points out of the locker room to cut its deficit to eight (51-43). The Blue Raiders responded with nine straight points as Adams, Stotts, and Cundiff all hit from deep to give Lindsey Wilson the 60-43 lead with 12:17 left in the game. Lindsey Wilson pushed the lead to as many as 27 points en route to the 87-63 win. The Blue Raiders ended the game shooting 49.2 percent (31-of-63) compared to Shawnee State's 40.3 percent (27-of-67).
