LWC Baseball drops season opener 18-0 to Georgia Gwinnett By Clayton Barefield The Lindsey Wilson baseball team opened the 2019 season with an 18-0 defeat during game one of a three-game series against Georgia Gwinnett in Lawrenceville, Georgia The Blue Raiders (0-1) were held scoreless in a game that would result in seven innings. Lindsey Wilson was not able to produce an offensive spark as the Blue Raiders were only able to manage two hits and two walks. Chandler Harnage started on the mound for the Blue Raiders recorded two strikeouts while also letting up eight hits and seven runs to pick up the loss. Brandon Wilson, Bradley Hines, and Austin Streble would all make appearances on the mound for Lindsey Wilson. Hines led the Blue Raiders with three strikeouts while only giving up three earned runs. Georgia Gwinnett (2-2) started out the game strong scoring 15 runs in the first three innings. The Grizzlies tallied 18 runs on 18 hits along with 17 RBI's. GGC was led by C.J. Ballard who recorded three hits and three runs. Cam Coursey was able to bring in four runs for the Grizzlies as well as recorded three runs on two hits. Gregory Loukinen grabbed the win for the Grizzlies starting from the mound giving up two hits while striking out two Blue Raiders. Nick Tanner managed three strikeouts with Matthew Swain recording two strikeouts as well. The Blue Raiders look to bounce back on Saturday as they face the Grizzlies for game two of the series at 1pmCT in Lawrenceville, Georgia. This story was posted on 2019-02-09 12:52:29
