LWC Basketball travel to Pikeville Thursday

The Lindsey Wilson men and women's basketball teams travel to Pikeville (KY) on Thursday at the UPIKE Gym, Hibbard St, Pikeville, KY. The women are set to tip-off at 5pmCT followed by the men's game at 7pmCT.

Thursday's matchup marks 72nd meeting with LWC leading the overall series 38-33. The last meeting occurred on Jan. 19, where the Blue Raiders won 88-78.


The No. 20-ranked women (16-7, 6-3 in the Mid-South Conference) hit the road after falling to MSC rival Campbellsville (Ky.) 70-59 at Biggers Sports Center on Saturday.

Reagan Turner and J'Nayah Hall both led the Blue Raiders offense scoring 20 points each. Molly Stone led all players on the glass with eight rebounds.

Turner continues to lead the MSC in points per game with an average of 20.3 points. Turner's effort this season has put her in the top-10 in the NAIA for points per game and total scoring (466), coming in at No. 6 in both categories.

Gerda Paulauskaite joins Turner in the national ranks with a No. 7 ranking in both total blocks (61) and blocks per game (2.7). Paulauskaite leads the MSC in the blocking categories as well as leads the MSC in rebounds with an average of 8.23 rebounds per game with a total of 181 on the season.

(RV) Pikeville (16-9, 5-4 MSC) hosts the Blue Raiders after losing a close overtime matchup against Life (Ga.) 97-95.

The Bears were led by Brianna Burbridge who finished the game with 30 points after going 9-for-15 from the field and 11-for-14 from the free-throw line. Burbridge also led the team from off the glass, snagging 17 rebounds. Three other players scored in double-figures for the Bears.

Englert leads Pikeville this season averaging 12.6 points per game while shooting for 38.7 percent. Burbridge also leads the team in rebounds -- 6.8 per game -- totaling 171 so far this season.

Thursday's matchup is the 68th meeting between the two programs. Lindsey Wilson holds a 50-17 record over Pikeville. The last meeting between the two programs was Jan. 19th, where the Blue Raiders defeated the Bears 76-68 at Biggers Sports Center.

Blue Raider men's basketball (12-12, 3-6 MSC) returns to action after an 84-75 home loss to Campbellsville (Ky.) Saturday afternoon. JR Adams led LWC, posting a career-high 28 points.

As a team, The Blue Raiders defense is ranked ninth in the NAIA in three-point field-goal defense, holding opponents to 31.2 percent from beyond the arc. Offensively, LWC is ranked ninth in total three-point field-goals made, averaging 10 three-pointers per game.

As for individual efforts, JR Adams is ranked 12th in the NAIA in total steals, with 44 steals this season.

No. 16 Pikeville (19-5, 6-3 MSC) returns to action after an 85-79 victory over Life (Ga.) on Saturday afternoon. The Bears are averaging 90.8 points and 41.2 rebounds per game while shooting 51.2 percent from the field and 38.6 percent from beyond the arc. Jayvian Delacruz leads Pikeville with 21.8 points per game average on 57.3 percent shooting from the field.

This matchup features the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week in, Luke Layhew, who averaged 26.5 points and 18 rebounds per game for the Bears in their past two matchups.
