Lake Cumberland ADD Board holds first meeting of 2019

On January 24, the Lake Cumberland Area Development District's (LCADD) Board of Directors held its first meeting of 2019 at the district's office in Russell Springs.

The full board is automatically comprised of all judge-executives and mayors from Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, McCreary, Pulaski, Russell, Taylor and Wayne counties. In addition, 20 citizens from all 10 counties serve on the Board.

During the meeting, board officers for 2019 were elected as follows: Cumberland County Judge-Executive John Phelps, Chairman; Green County Judge-Executive John Frank, Vice Chairman; Russell County Citizen Member June McGaha, Secretary; and Burnside Mayor Robert Lawson, Treasurer.

In addition to board officers, the following were appointed to the executive committee:

Adair County Citizen Member Curtis Hardwick; Albany Mayor Lyle Pierce; Doug Stephens, McCreary County's mayor designee; Casey County Judge-Executive Randy Dial; Campbellsville Mayor Brenda Allen; Wayne County Judge-Executive Mike Anderson; and Adair County Citizen Member Sharon Payne.

Six new citizen members were appointed to the LCADD Board, including Curtis Hardwick, representing Adair County; Nicole Cross, representing Clinton County; William Dick, representing Pulaski County; Betty Kidwell and J. Alvin Hardy, representing Taylor County; and Ronald Wright, representing Casey County.

The following were reappointed as citizen members: Allen Sewell, representing Cumberland County; and Hank Basset and Martha Blevins, representing Wayne County.

As McCreary County does not have an incorporated city, the Board appointed Doug Stephens as a mayor-designee to represent an elected official position.

The following leaders were appointed to head LCADD committees: Russell County Judge-Executive Gary Robertson, Chairman of the Water Council Committee; McCreary County Citizen Member Allan Chapman, Chairman of the Revolving Loan Fund Committee (RLF); and Burkesville Mayor Billy Guffey, Chairman of the Transportation Committee.

Judge John Phelps and Judge John Frank will serve on the Kentucky Council of Area Development Districts (KCADD).
