LWC Wrestling edges out Campbellsville 16-15 By Christopher Coombs Campbellsville, KY - The Lindsey Wilson wrestling team won five of their ten matches during the Battle of Highway 55 against Campbellsville University after winning four on decisions and one on a major decision to take the match 16-15 in Mid-South Conference action. The Blue Raiders are back in action on Tuesday for senior day when they take on No. 5 Cumberlands (Ky.) in their final home dual of the season at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY. The dual was ultimately decided by a misconduct penalty on the Tigers (2-5 MSC) bench during the 197-pound match. Without the penalty, the dual would have been tied at 16 upon completion. Lindsey Wilson (6-1 MSC) fell in the first match of the night on a major decision but would rebound when Brady Moser (No. 9 at 133) and Trent Johnson (No. 6 at 141) were able to defeat NAIA ranked opponents on back-to-back matches. Moser took down Marvin Galette (No. 12 at 133) on a 3-2 decision in a top-tier matchup. Johnson then gave the Blue Raiders a 6-4 lead when he defeated Jaedin Sklapsky (No. 12 at 141) during the first sudden victory period on a 6-4 decision. Lindsey Wilson would fall on a decision during the 149-pound match but Mark Taijeron (No. 14 at 157) was able to pick up an 8-4 decision win over Chandler Woenker at 157-pounds. Derrick Smallwood (No. 6 at 157) recorded the Blue Raiders only extra point victory of the night when he defeated Raymond Williams on a 14-3 major decision. Brett Bradford (No. 8 at 174) gave Lindsey Wilson their largest lead of the night and their final victory of the match when he defeated Mahlic Sallah (No. 13 at 174) on a 7-4 decision. LWC would drop their final three matches via decisions but would hold on to win by one point. This story was posted on 2019-02-02 06:52:29
