ACSO: Sparksville man arrested after altercation

By Sheriff Josh Brockman
Adair County Sheriff's Office

The Adair county Sheriff's office responded on Wednesday to a reported physical altercation with shots being fired in the Sparksville community.

On January 30, 2019, at 1:08pmCT, Adair county 911 received a call about two males fighting, and shots being fired, on Maxie Lane. Upon Sheriff Brockman's arrival he located both parties in the vicinity and secured a shotgun that had been fired.

After investigation it was found that an employee of Taylor County RECC, John Edwards, was at the residence of Patrick Stotts completing a work order when Stotts came out and fired a shot in the air from a shotgun. Stotts fired an additional shot in the direction of Edwards. Stotts then went toward Edwards and struck him with the barrel of the gun, and a physical altercation ensued.

Stotts was arrested by Sheriff Brockman and lodged in the Adair County Jail on charges of wanton endangerment 1st degree, menacing, and assault.

Assisting at the scene was Chief Deputy Cross and Kentucky State Police Trooper Martin Wesley.

NOTE: An arrest is not a finding of guilt. An individual placed under arrest is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.
