ACES Hosts STEAM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Art-Math) Night

By Debbie Cowan, ACES Family Resource Center Director

Adair County Elementary School (ACES) hosted STEAM Night on January 22nd. This annual event, sponsored by The Family Resource Center, Title I and ACES Science Department, is a popular family involvement experience that provides shared learning opportunities in the areas of science, technology, engineering, art and math.

To promote parent involvement, families were encouraged to develop and exhibit original scientific displays and provide demonstrations. Through these exhibits, STEAM night participants learned about electricity, volcanoes, automaton, electronics and circuits.

Other activities included painting with gravity, a Student Technology Leadership Project showcase, math games and fun with "non-Newtonian" goo. Families also enjoyed learning about honey bees and pollination and were able to taste samples of locally sourced honey.
